^^^I can tell you that it's as dry as a popcorn fart around here. If some idiot starts a fire this weekend and it gets away from them, it could get ugly.

Dry here too. We are in a Fire Weather Red Flag warning, a Wind Advisory (50mph +), and will have temps in the 80's. Been in a smoky haze for over a week with so many people burning. Lots of eye and throat irritation. Could get kind of miserable to be outside.

Marv was rollin hard up Hwy 10 this morning and said all the top soil is shifting over a county. I hope some of that makes it to my place and settles. Gonna be a boom year for ditch hay.

It’s hazy going up I-29. If it ain’t fire, there’s a lot of topsoil in the air. We went 140 miles until we saw our first green winter cereals field. There’s a lot of no-till here too, but also a lot of turned dirt. When we stopped at the seed shop, I was talking to the guy at the front desk about how busy they were. He mentioned they were drawing up an expansion to double their storage and loading capacity. He made the comment, “there are a lot of guys gonna get an education in cover crops if we stay dry. And I’ve never met a talking cat.”

3” of fresh snow at the camp tonight when I got here. I’ll be back out pruning tomorrow morning. Hopefully this helps the maple syrup guys as well. No days after Sunday below freezing in the 10 day forecast so this may be the last of it.

When I was in SE North Dakota late last fall I saw a lot of fields with a cover crop, including some nice plush brassica. I hope that’s a trend .
