Apple growing dude I know near Black River Falls had 32 degrees this morning. Glad it was there and not here I am ready for it. I'm hoping for more brassica and oat growth yet

I'm hoping for more brassica and oat growth yet . I am trying to remember freeze out temps for the oats when I checked them about 20 years ago.15 or16 degrees sticks in my mind. How cold will brassica tolerate, or is there a chart of varieties? PTT seemed to hold up pretty well.

How cold will brassica tolerate, or is there a chart of varieties? PTT seemed to hold up pretty well. I think most forage oats will take temps down to about what you said. Somewhere in the mid teens. Some brassicas will stay green into the low single digits. We had green lacinato kale one year well into January. I believe forage collards will stay green to right around zero. Even garden collards will take pretty low temps. Radishes are one of the more tender types. I think they're pretty much toast in the teens/low 20s

Looks like it's gonna be warm out the full 14 day forecast. Gonna get some bonus days on the fall forages by the looks of it. i'll get to use up every last drop of moisture in the subsoil. Gonna need a wet spring to catch this up.

I believe I also read that Delar was good into December too. If I can keep some groceries in those plots when we get overbite temps into the teens.....I will be a happy camper. I have seen turnips hold up for forage into January and later. I may have the only green forage in miles this year? Although some likely put some rye down after rains came.....and some soybeans have become viable. Those beans will be long gone by deer season tho. This year any non irrigated corn never grew an ear in our area.

About .25" in the gauge right now. These August/September rains likely saved a number of young trees

No sooner than I declared an end to the rain season, Marv says 2" dumped in BR this morning. I just hope it was able to soak it. That dirt was pretty powdery.

Right around .7" in the gauge now. A definite change to the air as well. It feels like fall again

Almost 3" of rain in my gauge here in Nisswa. I bet Deertopia is in the same ballpark. Should tally over 10" since August 20 Rain Dances began.

Today's high is projected to only be 91 instead of 95 that they predicted yesterday. Rained .01 last week, nothing for quite a while before that. I'm ready for cooler weather. Might get a cool front tomorrow.

This might be my best rain of the season. Just a steady downpour for the last 90 minutes or so. Foggy had 3" before I had a drop so I was getting a bit nervous.
