Yesterday NWS was calling for .75-1.5" today thru tomorrow. Now, it's less than .5" Maybe our garden will actually get a chance to dry out My brother in law and another friend in the Little Falls area had almost five inches of rain while we had 1.25 inches. heavier totals all around us too. Swanville got 5"+ when we got 1.5". It's wet here, but it's worse in many spots

Deer get an easy winter to be able to have lots of fawns. Then heavy rains arrive just as the newborns do to. That's Minnesota for you.

Massive flooding going on around our land in South Central Wisconsin. Got over 6 inches of rain in 2 days. Roads and towns completely underwater. Crops I'm sure are washed away. Not good.

A lot of farmers are going to be hurting this year. I've seen so many corn and bean fields totally flooded, at least the one who were able to get them planted.

The rain in SE MN can stop now.
I have somewhat sandy soil at my house, and I still have a little standing water for the first time since we moved here in 2012. On the bright side, this rain is awesome for this year's tree plantings and the food plots are looking very good. We could use some heat though, but it is supposed to be fairly warm today and tomorrow. I'm hoping that the hot weather will get my soybeans to canopy and hopefully stay ahead of deer browsing.

Last night the weather folks said slight chance of showers and storms for tonight. Now they have us in a 3/5 for severe weather tonight and more flash flooding. When will it end?

Crops have really progressed in the areas I visit. Much of the corn on better soils has caught up to those of us on lighter soils.
Some poorly drained areas are still hurting.

Finally some rain. It was a light sprinkle but it was some moisture last night. I haven’t mowed the yard in weeks and I’m tired of watering my baby trees.

I was listening to a farm report this morning on my way back from Osakis (picked up our processed chickens). They were interviewing a meteorologist from NOAA. She said long range forecasts look hotter and drier than average for much of the upper midwest, including MN. Talk of drought was thrown around.
I think I'll get my fall plots in soon...

We could use some hot and dry weather now, but I don't want it hot and dry all summer like last year.
I sprayed some clethodim a week ago on my orchard plot and my plan was to let the grass die off for another week or two before I lightly disk it up and plant a brassica, clover, alfalfa, chicory blend. I might expedite that plan a bit if the extended forecast is looking dry.

My estimate is 3/4 inch of rain which is good to keep the crops progressing. It also helps keep the irrigators off as the watershed seems to have a problem.
My renter chopped they hay last night and got it off the field.

1.25" in the gauge this morning. I was hoping for a half inch or better to push the urea into the ground on the neighbor's collards. Should be good to go
edit...the neighbor's rain gauge is less than .25 mile away...and he only got .6" Pretty crazy. Still enough for the urea to work though.
