I’ve got a few nieces and nephews I️ like, and I️ need to up the number of options I️ have for hunting various winds. I️ see about everyone has an $80 stand next to a $180 stand. What’s the big difference, and what should a guy watch for in quality?

I would assume there is a difference in maximum weight. Only 2 man I have I bought because it had a bigger foot platform.

I don't know the difference between an $80 and $180 stand (because I don't own a $180 stand) but I can tell you a double is tough to put up by yourself and from my experience they are too tall for kids to be comfortable in. I like to take a section or two of the ladder out and brush it in really well for kid hunting. They like it short and they are going to fidget to much, so good cover is a must.
Good luck.

The 2 man convex at menards is outstanding. Very rigid. Huge standinding platform.
I have 5 2 man stands of various brands. Convex is great

The two things I worry about are squeeky joints, low weight limits, and shitty coatings. Not sure what else a guy might have to watch out for.

If you havent had a 2 man stand before... One thing to be aware of. They have 2 ratchet straps. You need a damn straight tree, so you can get both connections points strapped to the tree.

might be the one I have. Mine looks very similar, I like the extra foot room the curve gives you.

Can anyone see a price? My stores don't carry them, so now price for me.

SD,
Walmart usually has the 2man stands for $100 or so. They usually only have a single piece for the foot platform. More expensive 2man stands usually have 2 sections for the foot platform so they give your more room to stand and look around and your gear. I got some of the dual section stands at Tractor Supply two years ago for $90 each. It just depends on being in the right place at the right time. You'd want help setting them up if possible.

I'm putting any more investment on hold for right now. Bringin in the heavies to re-evaluate how I'm going to hunt and set up my property. I may actually follow through on my promise to not plant any trees this spring, an actual zero.
