I never disliked WI's firearm season. I probably stopped liking it less as I aged, but I did still enjoy it. The main reason I dislike MN's firearm season is that it fucks up my bow hunting. Just when things start getting good, firearm season opens up and deer disappear. In WI I had very enjoyable archery and firearm seasons....here I don't enjoy either season much. I just pulled an SD card off my orchard plot. I had been getting dozens of pics weekly on the scrapes that are there. The last time I pulled that card was Thursday before firearm opener. Number of deer pics on the card this time? 3

I enjoy the Wisconsin Gun hunt, but unlike most of you guys I don't bow hunt. I take the whole week off and usually take a day or two off for the black powder season to.

I like them both, but have a much better chance to kill a nice buck in MN. In NW WI the baiting is everywhere and it absolutely kills daytime movement starting a couple weeks before gun season. I went grouse hunting there last weekend on some MFL open properties and followed several ATV tracks in the snow that ended with a pile of corn by a camera and treestand. It's legal, but I don't think people realize how much it kills natural movement. Maybe the hunting is awesome by those bait piles, but I know it's pretty tough if you're hunting nearby without any corn.

I like gun season but it's not even close to the enjoyment I get from bowhunting. I'd be fine not even having a gun season. My best deer have all been with a bow. I've never even seen anything decent with a gun in 20+ years.

I had the same thing happen saturday.....Our firearms season typically starts the week before thanksgiving. However the actual law states that Firearms season will start the first Saturday after Veteran's day (since veterans day is a state holiday). Well this year Vet's day started on a saturday so the next available saturday was a week later. I heard some guys getting ready, but about 5:30.....Boom! Just one shot. Not too far. Guys....gun season is NEXT week! Had the CO stop buy the house about some other things and we talked about that shot as well. not sure if anything came of it.....but yes. Same deal here. This year the firearms season is as late as it every will be. Good for bow hunters....not so good for gun hunters.
