My Dad doesnt own a pair of binocs. Yesterday he was hunting and saw some deer way off but couldnt make out much looking through his scope. So Xmas is on the way and I want to get him some Binocs for general use. He can use them in the house over the winter to look at deer and wildlife coming into his plot behind the house and feeder. I dont want to spend Swarovski money. I want to spend Bushnell type money. They will get little use other than infrequent entertainment use. I have decided 10x42 would be good for his needs. What brands should I look at? The web is impossible to get a final good feel on what one is the best. I want to stay under $200. I found these on Ebay. I have some 8x32 Nikons. They are a low end one, but for what they costed they do a good job. I have a couple Nikon Prostaff scopes and zero complaints. Price on these is far cheaper than anything else I found online. www.ebay.com/p/Nikon-Prostaff-7-Binoculars-10-X-42/1925520007?iid=142568399578

I have a nice pair of 15x42 vortex and they are awesome. The glass in them is more in the $600-$700 dollar range but I wouldn't hesitate to check out what they have in the $2-$300 range

I️ have had Nikon Monarch 10x42 since my 2004 elk hunt. I️ like them but the eye cups suck.
A friend has Vortex 10x42. I’d buy those if I️ was to purchase another pair.

There's a reason vortex stuff is cheap. Yes, they have a great warranty but I've heard a lot of people have to use it.
