To this layman it seems clear...the DNR was trespassing.

To this layman it seems clear...the DNR was trespassing. I always thought that the DNR could go any where, but after reading this they have to have a dam good reason to come on to private property to check you in Wisconsin.

Ya, me too....probably because the DNR always told us they could go anywhere and never got challenged

The DNR will continue to go anywhere they want. If you want to oppose them you too can spend a year in jail and pay for attorney to sue them.
They should have probable cause to enter private land, but in their eyes it just being hunting season is probable cause especially if they see you with a firearm.

After the Siren, WI incident, I wouldn't be giving up my gun to any unidentified assholes in orange with ARs.
