One of the biggest bucks we had live on our land was shot this weekend by neighbors. Estimated score of 165, 16 scorable points. He lived around my 82 acres he was a 5 year old. We had several pics of him. I saw him once while hunting this year, he was very big!! Gulp!!

It sucks that your neighbors got him and not you, but it does give a guy a little happiness that you were able to grow that beast on your land.

Are they good neighbors?
I have no issue with good neighbors getting a good deer. If they are hacks and kill em all for freezer filling. F em. LOLLL

Yes Minnesota...this buck took my breath away when I saw him. The pictures do not do the animal justice!
They are weekend warriors, yeah good guys, but still a kick in nuts. It was a long shot for us to get him , you can't keep a buck on your farm with 82 acres and 58 of that tillable. We kind of new it was low odds we would shoot him.

That's a heck of a deer. Tough news but what would you do differently? There are always going to be guys who fall into huge deer.

When they had our field in alfalfa, I told him no cutting until after June 1 in hopes to save turkey nests and fawns. If the renter doesnt like it, there is no shortage of farmers looking for land to rent.

I have the same story with many bucks our neighbors got. Impossible to keep deer on smaller acreages.
Edit... many NICE bucks. Not just yearlings.

Congratulations to your neighbor. Sometimes it is hard to do, but what goes around, comes around.

Its the rut, at any given time you could have had him come by or someone elses 16 pointer from ten miles away come by.
