That would make an even more lopsided mount than the one I shot. I only saw 2 on saturday. The one I shot and the doe he was with. Sat all day minus a couple hours during the middle to run home for the atv.

Do I go down to the neighbors and suck beer with them tonight and have a good time and likely miss the morning hunt? Or do I sit here have a few beers and get up and hunt? I'm having a tough time deciding as I'm only looking for a buck now.

Well, back at work for a couple days and then back to the "field" for Thanksgiving weekend. Still no deer sighted "in the woods", saw 3 while driving to and from the hunting area. My old man will shit himself when I tell him one of the 3 deer we saw was literally right at the end of the driveway of his old place. I also think I figured out why we were not seeing any deer on the piece we were on this past weekend. End of the morning hunt yesterday and I figured what the hell and decided to take a walk around the whole 200 acre piece. Got on the extreme north border which is edged by a private road and low and behold, four wheeler trails entering the property. As I walk to the southeast, skirting the edge of the pine plantation which the four wheeler trail passed through, I got to a phenomenal looking bedding area, only to see a 4 wheeler parked at the edge of the plantation/bedding? WTF? Literally only a 40 square walk from their cabin and they feel the need to drive out there every morning. Well, walked a bit farther to the south at the edge of the marsh and yup, 2 guys in treestands right on the marsh edge about 75 yards each direction from the 4 wheeler...........morons. No wonder no one sees any deer.......what sucks is this is a fantastic looking piece of ground that could become a deer paradise if properly managed, terrain and setup could be easily manipulated and it is a blank slate, not to mention the fact that the pulp is nearing harvestable age and there is enough to damn near pay for the place if the prices are up even a little bit without even touching the mature oaks on the ridges.

Ok. Sick of seeing the same does. Gonna completely change it up and have my GF and me sit in stands that has not been sat in yet this year at all. not my best stands at all and there is a reason I have not sat in them but What could it hurt?

That is what has worked for me. Even find that little corner that has been ignored and has no stand. Slip in with a stool during the day when the wind is blowing to cover your entrance. Then sit tight until dark. Play the wind of course.

I went to a public wildlife area this afternoon. Saw they were logging a section of it. I sat on a ridge that was mostly had oak trees on it.
Didn't see any deer.

I think the warm weather is bad for hunting. I would prefer temperatures were not be near record high today.

Well, ended up with a little bit of venison after all, my godson dropped off a hind quarter and one backstrap for me when he came to visit on Saturday. I got about 18 lbs of roast, steaks, and stew meat.
