Seems I am going the other direction in guns lately. Been fooling with lever-actions and pistol and shotgun cartridges more than long-range rifle stuff. Just bought a new Henry .410 Lever Action Shotgun......and took delivery yesterday. Found a "deal" on-line and as they are hard to get.....figured I better act. Really a well made gun.....and should be great for grouse and small game. Going to find some ammo for it today. Gott ship it back to MN this spring with a friend that is driving back. Willl post a pic below.

This gun is only 40" long and feels very compact yet its a "hefty" gun like a good rifle should be. Might make a great gun for youth shooting and handles slugs, buckshot, birdshot and home defense rounds. Likely minimal gun for deer.....yet a well placed shot in the vitals will work fine. NICE crisp 4 lb trigger just like a rifle. NO creep. very safe transfer bar safety system - really good for youth.

I like that .410. I’d carry that for bunnies.

I like that .410. I’d carry that for bunnies. Yep...perfect. Holds 5 shells in the tubular magazine and quite safe to carry one more in the chamber. Henry built a unique transfer bar that seems to be super safe - even for kids. No worries about the thumb slipping off the hammer when cocking or decocking. The trigger is the same as used in their RIFLES....so it's a pretty sweet setup. No creep....no heavy shotgun pull.....just 4 lb pull weight that breaks clean. They build these shotguns on basically what is their 45-70 frame so it's quite stout and feels maybe a tad heavy for youth.....but that weight also makes recoil almost non-existent and helps steady the sights etc. Feels like my Marlin Carbines in the hand......very nice and compact to carry. If you get by a gun shop check out the 45-70's that Henry makes.....I doubt you will find one of these bad-boy shotguns on the shelf. They are selling like hotcakes. I found mine online for $699 with free shipping and no tax. Likely as good of a buy as they will get for some time. Seen em sell on Gunbroker for $850 + shipping and fees. That's not a cheap price for a .410 shotgun.....but it is a fair price for this quality of lever gun these days. The Winchester and Marlin .410's are selling for double of that number....and more. Still.....a person could buy a pump action for about 1/2 price. I just want one. .
