Has anybody had luck transplanting spruce in the fall? I hinged a bedding area this spring and ran out of time to plop some spruce in there. I know fall isn't the best time to be doing it hunting wise, but I know the benefits down the road. The only thing I have planted in the fall is apple trees and I've had good luck! Is it worth it or should I just wait until the next spring?

I'd vote for waiting until spring too. You're not losing much growth by planting in April instead of September.

I would ask if you'll have time next spring since you didn't this year? Lack of time is what most of us have. Carpe Diem.
How big are these trees? Are you're trees in grow bags? If they are then you won't upset your roots too much if you plant this fall when they are dormant, timing if for just before a good rain. If you're wanting to do it when they're not dormant I'd wait.

Don’t know about “trans” planting, but I did my toad screen plugs in August and they did great. Keep in mind, I get rain every single week, and a lot. Pulled the rain gauge today from the past two weeks.
