My neighbors 30 acres of alfalfa has been taken over by cool season grass and doesn't draw deer worth a shit anymore so I'm going to put a couple acre plot in. It's in WSG right now. Would it be wise to work up the soil after killing the WSG on the first go around or just get right to planting with my drill? I plan on the Lick Creek mix so 1/2 brassicas and 1/2 rye/oats/radish.

I would say nuke it good and drill into the dead thatch. Otherwise you run the risk of pulling all that thistle seed to the top..... and you don't want that.

Ditto. If you got lots of dead thatch to be had, I'd broadcast then mow it down on top. I've done that a couple times now and really like how it turns out.
