Played 3 games of broomball last night. Broke my toe on the 2nd shift of game #1. Got home about 11:30 last night and stared at the ceiling hoping to catch a couple Zzz's. At 3:30 AM I caught myself calculating my heart rate from the pulsating pain in my toe. I felt like kind of a pussy going to the ER but I couldn't take it. Hair-line crack and a pressure relieving probe thru the nail on my big toe.

I had to look once I saw the title. I've never done it to a toe but several times with a finger or thumb. They got hit one way or another, hammer is normally what did it. Throbbing and feeling every pulse. Just take a small drill bit and drill through or under the nail to relieve the pressure. I normally wrap tape around the drill bit and drill by hand, but I have seen guys use a drill.

Guys getting hurt doing dumb shit.....while on the job......yep, pretty typical. Do I even want to know what broomball is?
My son had the tip of his little finger smashed at work (while actually working) to the point that it exploded! They thought he would have to have it removed at the knuckle. They saved it to just about when the cuticle of the nail starts. He can only count to 9 and 7/8 now!!!!

Spongy shoes instead of skates, broom looking thing instead of a stick, ball instead of a puck, the net is 2x hockey size. Been playing recreational leagues for 18 years. Good excuse to get outside a couple nights a week.... Great exercise.

Ahhhh, shift as in hockey shift/substitutions.......not 2nd shift like working from 3 pm to 1 am! I read it as guys fucking off at work....didn't mean to insult anyone's work ethic.
I should have known it would be hockey based. I think you guys base everything on hockey up there. I was told "doggy style" was invented by folks in the north originally called "hockey style" .... it facilitates both guys being able to watch the hockey game while, well, you know!!!! Hahahahahah!!!!!
Just poking fun. Hope you finger is Ok Coop!!!!

Got two too many balls for Ringette. Truth is league broomball is far more physical and tolerant of fighting than old man hockey. I play both.

I am surprised I have never heard that joke before, have to make sure I remember it Also, when I clicked this thread I was hoping there would not be a picture based on the title. I guess it could have been worse. When I was a kid my dad dropped a big steal plate on his foot in the barn, ended up doing the drill bit thing later that night since he couldn't sleep. The blood hit the ceiling when he got through the nail.

Done that a few times. I heat up a needle and roll it between my fingers until it drills a hole through. Only one better release on earth than when it breaks through and the pressure is released. My grandfather had a giant square needle he kept for just that procedure.
