Really hard not to like Brooks' buddy Jeff Johnson. He ain't afraid to come out and say our DNR needs to change things. I have been sitting back not saying anything about this guy, but he has my vote, and looks like a lot of others. Brooks, what say ye?

Johnson has promised to reallocate the walleye harvest on Mille Lacs. Fairly. The tribes will get fish, and if they don't like the split - he said they can take to back to federal court.
MN DNR gets to dictate the split. EDIT - the DNR Commissioner approves/decides the walleye split. EDIT - The Governor of MN who appoints the DNR Commish is ultimately in charge of the walleye split. Thats the way the system functions.
I am voting Johnson. Have been working booths at shows etc.
But he is a long shot to win the primary unless he can motivate the public to come vote August 14th.

^. Any relation Brooks? Rumor mill has it you will be the new Deer Czar. (OK.....it's just a joke. - Tho I betcha you'd be a good one).
I hope Johnson makes it.......or at least makes a difference in making changes to the DNR - regardless of whom becomes Governor. If Pawlenty is the primary winner......would / could Johnson fit into his admin?

Same with all 14 cabinet picks. Wants to change the culture of St. Paul beauracracy.

All I know is I hope you guys get somebody elected to straighten out the mess you guys seem to have. I have seen Brooks beating the band on FB about this candidate....hopefully he can get elected and fulfill his promises....and isn't just another political dick-head.

I’ll vote for Johnson
We need to reduce taxes in MN as well, chasing away high earners.

Already happening. I'd wager that 40% of the people that live on Gull lake are non-residents now. Many of the farmers are residents of OZ now......and it grows.

Already happening. I'd wager that 40% of the people that live on Gull lake are non-residents now. Many of the farmers are residents of OZ now......and it grows. Are the tax advantages that good in Arizona? Well....for high income folks there is quite a savings. State income tax may be 1/3 that of MN. But the estate taxes for high worth folks is zero......and MN really can get expensive for folks with some assets. The cost of living in OZ is less than in MN too. We did a comparison.....and while I can save some money.....we are still residents of MN.....but I do consider making the change. My problem is that I like to hunt in fall.....and that currently has me in MN for over six months. Then too.....folks that get old want to be around their families when they get old.....so sonny boy can visit them in "the home".....yadda yadda. Lots of things to consider besides money I suppose. Personally.......I think there is a healthier and nicer way of life for seniors in OZ. Who wants to sit inside "the home" and stare at a TV all day when your old? Hell.....maybe you would have to sell your Prius, read the STRIB, and watch CNN. .

Florida, and SD both have zero state taxes. My neighbor on the lake is a Florida resident saves him big dollars. One of our richest locals, moved to the Black Hills because of taxes.
Dems like Dayton do not realize they are losing these people by the thousands.
Estimate by Twin City Business (article-The Great Wealth Migration) that MN has lost 3000+ high earners to other states.
Florida, Arizona, South Dakota all are options...for me. I’ll keep my place here and buy an lifetime archery and fishing license and call it good.

Yep, I do agree with this.....but MN is losing all it's highest paying taxpayers. SO......the revenue will have to come from the next high payers.....and so it goes....till this state either wises up or loses it's best talent. Stooopid if you ask me. Why would you drive off folks that pay the bills? Maybe Wildfire will step up and pay the bill? .

Johnson made it over the first hurdle......and won the primary! Huge accomplishment. Now......if he can tackle that no-good Waltz. One can hope!
