Escort. Runs like shit the day you get it. Runs like shit the day you sell it. But keeps on running.
Funny, but no. When do we close the rolls and do the big reveal? The Polls have closed. What is it?

I know you have a truck, but if we are truly talking a car...2 doors = something foreign...Nissan or Honda *Had* a truck. Would have been $33,500 to buy out the lease. Opted for the stabbin’ cabin instead. Now I rent pickups, like a boss.

Damn it, I should have guessed that. Hunting land and cabins are nicer than new trucks.
What does it cost to rent a truck for a weekend?

On the weekend, you can get a 48 hour unlimited mileage rental on a 1/2 ton for $160-$170 all in. Tax on that shit at the airport is 25%, but they've got the open hours you can't get from a stand alone rental store on the weekend. The airport is right on my path north anyhow, and it's only ten minutes from home. When I had a truck, I never used it. It ended up being more of a place to keep shit like my sled, saw, tools, gas cans etc. I had to run it through the car wash every time I left town, just to get the dust off it. Now that I've got the garage, all that crap is staying up there.

^. I used to drive the chit out of my company cars. Drove em everywhere and used them for vacations and weekend hunting excursions....etc. I was one of the few that had a receiver hitch on the back of my Olds Delta 88.....and I pulled trailers everywhere I went. Also had guns in the trunk at most times....along with my hunting clothes and fishing gear. Life was goooood. .

By not having a truck also keeps you from being at the top of the list to help people (typically family and friends) move or do other projects that require a truck! That was the issue I had....because I have a truck, that means I get asked to help/do all sorts of shit I don't want to. But I also don't like other kids playing with MY toys either! I have had the same issue with my little tractor and loader. People think you just put it in your pocket and take it anywhere....not quite the case. I have found the key to the truck this is to have something that is dependable for your use, but appears to be a huge piece of shit that nobody thinks can do the job! That concept works beyond just trucks as well.......

That concept works beyond just trucks as well....... I've been very happy with it so far. It comes with some need to plan stuff and stack projects when I have it. But so far it's worked really well. The one thing I'll miss is being able to tow a trailer, but the need is so infrequent, I still couldn't justify owning one. The rental outfits don't let you tow, only hauling allowed.

I sold my truck a couple of yrs ago to fund my shop build and a couple of foot surgeries that my wife needed (I wanted cash for those expenses without dipping into savings). Been driving a 40mpg car since. It's a way cheaper system that works well for the most part, but when you need a truck you NEED a truck. Renting is probably a much cheaper option than owning. Can you rent from Uhaul (I bet they would let you tow one of their trailers) or do they just do trailers?

I like hunting land more than new vehicles, but picking up a woman for a date in an old vehicle sucks. I'd like to say I bought hunting land right out of the gate after college, but I didn't. I bought a sweet new truck so I didn't have to pick up women in my 1987 Ford Taurus that had rust spots and peeling paint.

I could, but it’s just easier to work out a deal with someone that already has a truck and trailer. Sometimes you cash in or advance some friend points, sometimes you just gotta make a sweetheart deal to get it done. If I ever get around to having a four wheeler and a front end flail mower, I wonder how I’d get that mower up there. That’s one case I can see coming. Otherwise, nothing else on the horizon for now.

All it got me was women that wanted to be impressed by that kind of shit, and they were expensive. Anymore, it’s gonna take a special kind of woman to warm up to the kind of guy I am. There’s no glitz and glam anymore, I lean more to sensationalizing the hokey shit I do as a way to filter them high maintenance broads out.
