I've been using a cheap Agrifab 150 pound capacity pull behind deal. It's three years old and I think I'll get another year out of it. The plastic housing around the gears falls off a lot, and now it's just plain broken. What's the capacity on the deal you mount on the front of your ATV? Spreading a couple of tons of pell lime at a time is tedious with a 150 pound capacity hopper. I can't imagine going smaller.
I like the cheap spreader because it's basically disposable. I don't have a well so I rarely rinse the thing. After spreading fertilizer, I'll spray the metal moving parts with carb cleaner then whatever deep creep type lubricant I have laying around, then cross my fingers.

The Herd Spreader is actually a SEEDER. It's got about a one bushel hopper. I't is made for spreading seeds rather than fertilizers and lime. It's adjustable gate allows spreading from 2 lbs to about 25 lbs to the acre of small to large seeds. I do have a large PTO cone spreader that fits on the back of my tractor that I use for fertilizer. I can put about ten bags of fertilizer or pell lime in there at a time. The Herd can be used for Fertilizers......but I dont do that too much.

I bought this spreader for my dad. Got it at tractor supply probably 5 years ago. He gave it to me when he sold his place. I used it last year with hose clamps to hold it in place. That didn’t work so well. I used U bolts to mount a board on the mule. Some wood screws and washers and more u bolts made it pretty solid. I added some corrugated board to keep stuff off the mule Made sure Kelly Pickler was facing me

I use the piss out of these little moultrie spreaders for both Seed and fertilizer. The last two made it about 5 years I think. $113 plus free shipping on jet.com. I mount them on the front of the 4 wheelers so I can watch the rate of flow better. You guys may have answered this in a different section, but does this Moultrie ATV food plot spreader work well with small seed like clover and brassicas?

I use this for small seeds like clover and brassica. But I also only have small plots.

I've had good luck with a solo spreader for small seeded plots that aren't too big, but next spring I'll be planting about 10 acres of small seeds so I don't want to walk back and forth that much. The ATV mounted spreader MO posted about looks good, but I just wanted to confirm it works with the small seeded stuff.
