Now Gino D'Angelo has left his post with the farmland research group. Wasnt long ago that his peer Marret Grund left as well. Interesting that they have both left their posts after continuous pressure that has mounted since the MDDI movement gained some steam. I talked with Gino and he seemed to be one of the few that had a better view on the deer management. Not the perfect view, but he was decent to talk with and do email correspondence with. Replacing Gino looks to be Adam Murkowskis Bro. We have a couple of very young bucks(no pun intended) in key positions now. Just another puppet that the DNR has hired that will not buck the trends(no pun intended again) within the DNR. Nothing like a couple kids with minimal experience coming in at a very key time with the first Deer plan ever being developed. I just cant foresee either Adam or Andrew putting a foot down to challenge their managment chain. They are going to be spoonfed from day 1 on what to say and what to do. Attachments:

I talked to Gino at the Parker's Prairie QDMA spring meeting a few years ago, he seemed to be a guy who wanted to improve the methods to monitor the deer herd. I don't see this as a good sign but in fairness i should give Andrew a chance.

No idea Foggy. He up and simply disappeared. His Linked In account still says he is with the MN DNR, but he has been gone for quite a while now.
You nailed it Whip. That was exactly my thought.

Grund appears to have completely "disappeared". Not sure what happened to him. My guess is that he left with a "neutral letter of reference" when it became clear his model was anything but accurate. Gino seemed like a possible proponent of expanding APRs (article in last winter's ODN about SW MN)...that wouldn't work with our DNR leadership, so he left for greener pastures.
One thing about young guys like Murk and Norton...they tend to get wanderlust. If either of them are still here in 5-7 years I'll be surprised.
