You guys that don't see deer are diehards! I see 2-4 shootable bucks per sit, that doesn't count what I see in the distance or on the drive to/from the stand. Even with all those killable deer I only fill a tag once every 2-3 yrs. Guess I'm picky, or I just enjoy watching and waiting for "the one". Someday I'm going to kill something big and it's going to be cool. I usually will get one chance on a buck a year and my season runs from September 15-December 9th between archery, black powder, then rifle. . I saw a spike earlier this week at 10 yards but, I was bear hunting. I hope I see another this fall. My standards are 4 point or better so that spike would've gotten a pass anyways. Like I said; diehards! To be able to hunt 3 months and only realistically expect 1 chance at a buck with 4pts or better is crazy tough hunting. I'll probably hunt 30-40 sits in November and December. I hunt hard, but I'm likely to pass 3-5 150 class deer in that time and see a couple that will go over 160 for my efforts. It would be difficult to spend that time on stand and not have an expectation of a really nice deer coming though. You guys are tough!

I didn't kill one last yr but both my boys and my dad did. Pretty sure the last one I killed was two yrs ago, not sure how long it was before that one. My definition of big may be different than some, I would go nuts if I hadn't seen a 140 in the last 9yrs! What did the one you shot 2 years ago score? I think he was a low 160's (unofficial, taped it myself so take it for what it's worth).

I won't rifle hunt my property yet. To many Amish who shoot anything. I leave my place as a sanctuary for rifle season. I bought the place in 2011 and the first 2 years never saw a deer during rifle season. Since then I've not rifle hunted it. I've taken bucks the past 3 year during bow season. Every year the cams tell me the property is getting more popular with the local does. This year 3 different does 2 with twins and 1 a single. I will not shoot a doe either. The wife is the only one who has the go ahead to take a doe but she has yet to do so. It's not because they are not there its more of look up once in a while and not down at the kindle. She excited this year as she has a hut to sit in. I picked out the best spot on the property for her stand and the cam is proving that.

Umm. Didnt u smoke a monster last year? I havent seen a 140 from a stand since 2004. I didn't kill one last yr but both my boys and my dad did. Pretty sure the last one I killed was two yrs ago, not sure how long it was before that one. My definition of big may be different than some, I would go nuts if I hadn't seen a 140 in the last 9yrs! This is why I keep ribbing you to show us the big deer, and not those everyday 140's. You know, we deal with 6 months of winter, and 7 months of summer. We can go from swamp ass to frost bite in under a week, and it's more common than not. It's rare you can drive the speed limit an entire trip any time of the year. You're either in orange or white. There are things that help us cope: Liquor, cats, friends, liquor, going to the bar, kickball, campfires, drinking, and side side activities at the lands like grilling, mushrooming, playing farm, gardening, etc.

Most everything I post are yard-deer and I doubt most of them go over 120 or so. They grow up and leave for parts more secluded... and I stay the hell out of those places! I also hunt two other properties and haven't put a cam up on either one for many years. Soooo while I don't post all the pics of bucks I have (some shit you don't put on the internet), I also don't really have all that many pics of bigger deer. Relating it to hunting and kill standards; I see the deer I post pics of all the time, they are a common sight. It takes something quite a bit bigger than those to get my heart pumping. I would say that on average I see one monster a yr while hunting. Last yr it was while my 10yr old and I were sneaking in to a stand... he was sneaking out. Watched him for maybe 5 seconds and got to say it was probably the widest deer I've ever seen. That deer ruined me for the rest of the season.

I am happy with a 100" buck or 200" buck with a bow or gun. I up the size a little with a gun.
But who em I kidding, I rarely shoot anyways.

Don't ever sell that place, because there are hundreds of thousands of MN hunters that would pay you big $$ to come hunt your lawn deer.

If I remember right most of them are from Wisconsin or Minnesota... Good guys and have shot a few nice bucks on the place.

Bow: any net pope and young will do. Gun: needs to be 5+ years old or 140"+ Where do you hunt? Net p&y deer are pretty rare. West central Illinois. Most 4 year olds are pope around here and a lot of the good 3 year olds.

Most of my best bucks are with bow. My standards are 3 year old in MN.
Iowa real nice-3 or 4+... often a bully buck is a target as well
