Found out this morning I'm getting a little bonus at work. I have always been a diligent saver/investor when it comes to windfalls. Same will go for this one, but this go around, I'm gonna carve a little off and get myself a toy. This is the one I'm gonna get, and I'm gonna have Bezos deliver it right to the shack. Same one my grill guy has at his place. What kind of grill do you have or would like to get?

I have the similar but smaller 18" Weber BBQ Kettle in red. Works great and has held up for years. I don't even remember when I bought the damn thing, but it was at least 7 or 8 years ago.

I love grilling on Weber charcoal grills so that's a good choice SD. It will serve you well. I switched over to Weber Genesis propane at home and camp simply because I don't have time to wait for the charcoal to get ready. If I did I'd go with charcoal or wood fired. When it's -20 and I need to grill I can warm it up and cook and shut it off.

I have not cooked over charcoals in a long time. I like our Weber Nat Gas grills. Have the same grill in MN and OZ. Last year I bought a smoke cylinder for slow cooking barbecue on them.....and to get wood fired pizza taste. I just dont find time for a charcoal grill......and like the ability to regulate heat quickly.

I don't do charcoal either. Never have liked it much. I have a pellet grill right now that I love and would highly recommend! When I don't want to fire it up I use wood to cook with, but I don't have a store bought grill I have a tractor rim with a custom grate over it.

Why would you run with a time proven favorite? Cant you find some novel way to cook your meat? Maybe static electricity or a giant lightning attractor?

I think a reflector oven with a solar booster and battery pack, or perhaps a flux capacitor?.....could serve his minimalist needs. . These things may cost a bit more up front.....but the payback could happen over 30-40 years or so.

Maybe lean towards this one. It works well with a solar powered water pump?

That being said, I'm having Bezos deliver a pile of goods this week. A bottle of scent killer, some disposable aluminum pans, a set of hex key wrenches, a charcoal starting silo, rib racks, and this bad dog.

Any JPS worth two schmaltz would lite those coals with a LP Gas blow torch or perhaps a bazooka. I hate waiting for coals. .

Get the charcoal starter. They are $20. Metal cylinder with a handle and a grate in the bottom. Load it up with charcoal and a piece of cardboard. Light it and in ten minutes you have a can of red hot charcoal to dump in your grill.

Nothin more real than the power of the sun, the reliability of sweet sweet propane, or simple amorphous carbon.
