First off, that is a really big buck Stu. Second yes I agree, I think they do occasionally avoid cameras but they don't seem to leave the property. I know the big buck I have on my Parkers farm sees my camera, but he keeps coming back....seems to me more than 50% of the bucks could care less (just my opinion). Yup, I have seen bucks not care about cams too. The mid 150s buck my SIL shot a couple years ago had his pic taken a number of times over at least 2 (I suspect 3) years. I think that buck had been exposed to trail cams all along (maybe he lived here his whole life...I don't know. I guessed him at 4.5 when he was shot). What do you think the buck I posted a pic of scores? At first glance I could see why a person would guess in the 130s. Given the massive body (this buck leaves footprints with the dew claws pushing down on all four hooves) the rack doesn't look that impressive. I'm thinking if I see that buck in person I'd put him well into the 150s, and maybe higher. I hope I get to find out this fall. I would guess that buck would score 145-150" if he is a heavy deer. Hard to tell from one picture, but he appears to have good mass and solid beams and tines.

You think they are scared of the camera, or the scent from people checking them too often?

You think they are scared of the camera, or the scent from people checking them too often? I know both CAN affect deer, and it doesn't stack the odds in my favor in any manner. I feel no need to make getting in bow range of old bucks any harder than it already is.

I NEVER put trail cams up where I hunt. They're is really only one good use anymore for trail cams if you ask me. Keeping an eye on your cat. What are they doing in the middle of the night?

Friend of mine has a 3.5 year buck that has grown up in a 1/2 acre pen. Used to come to the gate for apples and was very friendly. Shed his velvet this fall and lays flat to the ground like a pheasant when he sees you coming.
Knew a guy in Kansas had 2 bucks the DNR gave to him. One was blind. When that blind buck turned 3 he went completely nocturnal.
Mature bucks are a different animal.

I was thinking 140-145 for Stu’s buck. More curious on his weight!!! I love the rack on a deer, but I am becoming more interested in a big old fat mature buck, those bruisers are a challenge!!
