I always get my ODN a few days later than everyone else. I was surprised to find one of Obama's outgoing guys ordered non-toxic ammo only on all federal lands by 2021 or 22. While creeping forward a left agenda, it could be dealt with switching from lead shot to steel shot, but what about deer ammo? Is there such a thing as non-toxic deer loads at this point? Would we all have to switch to steel core 5.56 ammo?
I can't help but be a little alarmed over it. Does that type of ammo even exist for all of our deer rifles? I've got a decent amount of steel core 5.56, but I don't necessarily want to go deer hunting with it. That doesn't mushroom like lead. It just keeps going through shit until it stops.
Add this to the reasons I'm skeptical about the likes of Dayton, Obama, and the DNR having control over more land, or those who come after them. I'd just rather they never had the power to begin with.

I hated switching from lead to steel when they made the change with waterfowl (now I actually prefer #1 steel shot over anything else). How does copper hunting rifle ammo compare in performance and price to lead?

I shoot Remy 165 gr. Core-Lokt in my '06 at around $19 a box on sale. I usually see the premium all cooper loads start at about twice that.

I will have to consider shopping online for ammo, you usually don't find all cooper that cheap in the brick and mortar stores.

I usually buy a lot of my surplus firearm ammo on line. It is hard to find 7.62X25 Tokarev or 7.5X55 Swiss for example in most stores and when you do it is expensive.
Usually much cheaper to order a 1000 rounds off the web.
If you have to have a box today though Moe's Hardware in Black River usually has a good selection of those exotic calibers.
