I prefer a slide window. Your hands stay out view, gravity does not move them shut after you open them, changing angle of sun does not reflect at the deer. Slider's it is then!

I went with your idea of a slider (that all made sense). First I bought some poly and tried to make a channel with wood to slide the window down... it bound and caught and was kind of a pain so I ditched that idea. Bought some magnetic tape and wallah... silent slider windows that won't reflect or move around. Easy peasy, cheap, quiet, no glare, and they can be brought up to the house for a pre-season cleaning with no tools involved.

Up position: Down position. I left tape off the top so that there wouldn't be a strip of solid sliding down for the deer to see.

What's holding it in the down position?
Mine are in wood channels, sort of, and a pain in the ass. Sometimes they stick. Sometimes they don't. Opening them with deer out front takes a steady hand if you want it to be quiet. It's hard. Magnets would be better. I can't believe I never thought of this.

I made the window and tape long enough that there is still several inches of magnet for the window to hang onto in the fully open position.

I told the wife to order a role of "1 inch industrial magnetic tape" from Amazon. I don't remember what showed up in the mail or what the brand was (the wrapper has already made a trip through the burn barrel). It works well so far though and I think I'm going to like it.

Cat, great idea. Did you use staple the strip on the wood or are you counting on the tape to hold? I've never had good luck with it holding on wood. Also can you actually slide them down or do you have to pull the window off and stick it back on.

I'm counting on the glue holding... but fully expect to have to staple or screw it back on once it falls off. It does both without much trouble (slide and pull off to move).

Well shit. Wind blew it out while hunting this evening. It didn't do us much good but it is windy as hell right now. It held up pretty good considering the conditions, I was asking a bit much of it.

It just blew the window off. The magnets stuck to the wood stayed stuck to the wood... and the magnets stuck to the window stayed stuck to the window. The window and it's magnets just fell off. With that said it was very windy and it was directly towards that wall of the blind.
