Should probably move this out to its own thread. I’m as serious and baboon ass about building one of these. My project team has posed the question of what happens to the condensate. I’m not sure I understand where it will be. Will it collect in my AC chamber as liquid, or be propelled back out as wet air?

My bil built something like this to put in his enclosed trailer (small one for his bike). It sucked and was promptly scrapped. I wouldn't put too much research into it. Just build it and see if you like it. Then throw away the bucket and cooler you destroyed and clamp the fan in front of your favorite chair.

Put out a pan of cold water......and put it between you and the fan......same deal......and you won't ruin a good bucket. FORE!

Like Foggy said, it's the same thing as sitting a frozen milk jug in front of a fan. It did little to actually change the air temperature and was a pain to carry frozen jugs around all over the place. I think a better plan would be to shade your entire cabin from direct sunlight with a large solar array. This would reduce heat more than a milk jug of ice.

Better not fall asleep in front of that thing or you might freeze to death!

This is basically a swamp cooler.
Here is a true swamp cooler...supposedly works best in low humidity areas

Screw that whole deal. I have a 2000w Honda generator that runs a $200 portable AC unit. It vents out a widow and runs for 8 hours on a gallon of gas. What is a decent nights sleep worth after sweating your ass off in July/Aug doing habitat work? Spend some of that money Grasshopper!

SD,
Is the air conditioner more for Bob or you?
If it’s for you I’d go the route of a couple frozen water bottles and a damp wash cloth unless you want to go the Satchmo generator a/c route.

Hook up to the grid.....and put your energy to work at better things. The cost is small and the enjoyment you will get is JUUUGE.

A "solar air conditioner" is just an open window with a box fan sitting in it where I come from.
