That really sucks. Are you 100% locked into that area or that land and would never consider going somewhere else?
We are looking to go the south western part of the state within the next 5 years. In the mean time I'm making improvements to the 40 hopefully to attract and possiblely hold deer. I leave the entire 40 as a sanctuary during rifle season from the brow is down crew. Funny thing is it's about 3 miles from the BIL's place and he doesn't have the same problem I do. That's the difference Amish neighbors make. Do I regret buying, at times but it is my sanctuary and get away only 15 minutes from home.
Well you could not of known how bad it was. If you want to drive farther and want a more up north feel let me know. I'm sure I could find your a 40 with some money left over on what you could sell your place for. or maybe I could even find an 80 for you for the same money. going to have to drive though.
When I bought this place there were no bucks around of decent size. Now I get a crack at a decent one every year with more and more big guys on camera. Things are looking up by me

Thanks for the offer but right now it's hard to give up being able to go to the property once or twice a week or even more. The next one I own I will live/retire on. Hell, we may even look out of state. The BIL has been in Colorado the past month and trying to talk us into it.

Either of those bucks would be fine by me. If you have good luck seeing bucks more often than not then you can be choosy. I usually get one opportunity a season at a 2.5 year old or better. Things are improving on my property though so maybe that'll change.

Southern Juneau maybe. Richland/Vernon/Sauk would be good.

What counties you looking at? In order Crawford, Grant, Richland, Iowa, Vernon Let me fix that for you............. Vernon, Crawford, Richland, Sauk, Grant, Iowa This is strictly based on deer hunting with a smattering of trout fishing and turkey hunting taken into consideration.

I like Crawford too. Vernon is awfully nice as well, but the last time I looked land prices in Vernon tended to run a fair amount higher than Crawford. It's been 6 years, so maybe that's changed now.

There's some nice places on whitetail properties in vernon. They aren't cheap. Richland has some huge deer. Pricey as well.

I'd add parts of Monroe County, but it would require selectivity. Prices tended to run lower than further south and west.
I know it's not south of Mike's location, but having spent some more time in NW WI...I'd have some interest in parts of Barron, Polk, and Burnett counties.

The hills in Monroe Co have some really good hunting. We've seen some giant bucks while shining in that neck of the woods. A buddy of mine shot a 183" near Wilton this past fall. Lot of good deer in that area. Clifton/Oakdale area as well.
