Just playing the what if game here for fun. No I'm not regretting what I shot but I was going through pictures from this past year to figure out what my prospects might be this coming year.
Just what if?
Which buck is bigger and which would you of rather of shot?
Really hope this guy below made it. I did not hear from the neighbors about anything of that size being shot.
The one I shot has a split brow tine. The one I shot seems to have more mass and is taller. The one on Nov 13 appears to be wider.
What do guys think?
Or Zoomed in.

I quick tape and it was 120". He is at the taxi and never had a chance to measure him close. I had to get him in a cooler and it was hot!!

I'd prefer the buck in hand to the one you may or may not have had a chance at.

Any reason why?

I think the one you shot is bigger, more mass from the looks of it. Nice to know you hopefully have one waiting in the wings however. Always fun going down memory lane from past successful hunts and looking at old trail cam pictures. I'm always amazed at the deer I forget about.

Because he's in hand The one you have pics of may score higher, but so what? Maybe he's still around now and will present you a shot this year.

Either one of your bucks are great. I've never shot a drop tine buck so that one would be pretty important to me.

Brad you know it all boils down to what makes you happy. It really doesn't matter what any of us think. Both are nice, either would have made me tickled fricken pink if they would have come off of my place. It's really hard to see anything over 1.5 years old with my neighbors. With all the brown is down and poaching that goes on.

The buck that is alive is not a drop tine buck. That is a stake for the fencing for my apple trees in the back ground. But it sure looks like drop tine.

Lol, I missed that. Probably because I want to shoot a droptine so much. I've shot lots of bucks I wish I had let grow another yr. I've passed a lot of bucks that I wish I would have shot. And I've eaten tag soup probably as many times as I've connected. Never had a season or hunt that I regretted though!

That really sucks. Are you 100% locked into that area or that land and would never consider going somewhere else?

We are looking to go the south western part of the state within the next 5 years. In the mean time I'm making improvements to the 40 hopefully to attract and possiblely hold deer. I leave the entire 40 as a sanctuary during rifle season from the brow is down crew. Funny thing is it's about 3 miles from the BIL's place and he doesn't have the same problem I do. That's the difference Amish neighbors make. Do I regret buying, at times but it is my sanctuary and get away only 15 minutes from home.
