I went in front of our school board last night. In 2015 they thought they would move to a special election and move out of the normal town hall polling places to the high school Gym. So we have to cram 9,200 voters in there in 8 hours, with only 2 lines and 4, 70 year old women trying to look up the voters in these huge books. Many people had to go back to work and could not stand there for hours on end waiting to vote. So we end up with only a little over 3,000 people voting for 20 million dollars.
So me being me, I look up all the rules of a special election. In the rules is 204B.45 and .46. As long as we are out of the 7 county metro we can Mail out the ballots. All our school has to do is throw a stamp on them and mail them to all the registered voters, they can vote and mail them back. I hand the rules out to the board, all yes people, and explain to them the voters were not happy the last time with your skewed vote and they want transparency in the next vote, and a chance for everyone to vote. Only cost $4,500 in stamps, end of story. No one says a word. Crickets. I then said we only had 3000 voters last election, my way would give all 9000 a chance to vote and would be 1/3 the cost. Once again, no response, crickets. I look around at everyone and said, is something wrong? Then the head school board bitch says, we don't respond to public comment. WTF? Fucking Arrogant mother fucking bitch whore slut......with a tude!

No wonder you are always pissed off at the education system. Sounds kind of crappy there.
We just passed a bond (on the second try) for our district. We were lacking 4 major things: A tornado shelter, a secure front entrance, handicap accessibility, and infrastructure for technology (computers, wifi, etc.). There are other things that needed fixed; when it rains the hallways and classrooms fill up with buckets due to roof leaks, Heat and Air seldom work right, etc. Stuff like that will get fixed also but aren't big ticket items.
The district had meetings and flyers asking for input from the community. They made a list of things needed based on the community input. The list included everything I already listed plus a second gym. The vote was by mail-in ballot, and walk-in at the city building of each town of the 4 towns that's in our district. It didn't pass. The board had more community meetings and asked why the community voted their own list down. They said the second gym was too much. So they took it off the list and did another vote. It passed the second time. The cost was around $12mil the first vote and $8mil the second vote.
The community was involved from the start. It's public education. It's their district. It's their children. It's their future working class. It's their taxes. They agreed that the old ass building needed improved for the kids's education and safety. They were in charge of the vote. With that said, there are still some that are pissed about it and think it's wasted money. I guess you can't please everyone but I think the process was done the right way here and nothing was ramrodded. I can't imagine it working any other way without hard feelings everywhere.

Schools with leaky roofs. Why does it happen so often?
If I had a leak in my home roof, I'd be getting it fixed asap. But then a school starts leaking, it seems to just get worse and worse.
My kid's old school had over 60 buckets catching water. Of course we just had to build a new school. I believe they purposely let the roof condition deteriorate so it can be used as selling point for passing levies.
I won't vote for any new taxes. I don't care what reason or sales pitch I'm given, NO NEW TAXES.

So they can say the old building needs to many repairs, costs to much money, we need a new building. Then they get some scam outfit called Johnson Controls to confirm a new building would be the way to go. Because Johnson controls gets 10% of the new school price. Its the biggest fucking Liberal ass fucking scam of the tax payers we have ever seen!

Sounds like the School Board in MO's area is run by arrogant, holier-than-thou, libtards from the Metro! Exactly what it sounds like! There is a fix. Mo needs to get elected to the board and fix how they are doing things from the inside. Just curious, what occupation's do the current board members have? Are they working class type people or are they political type people?
