I am speaking of the former Mill’s Fleet Farm. The store in St. Cloud/ Waite Park looks to be filling the gap after Gander and Sportsman’s Warehouse closed, and what some feel is a slipping Cabellas in central Minnesota. My friends say Cabelas is not the same since Bass Pro bought it. Lots of scopes, more space for guns, and probably more fishing tackle.

I have yet to see a Fleet Farm that looks like that in Wisconsin. Perhaps they are adjusting each store to the local market.

I bought some shingles last year as they were closing them out. There was a bunch of different construction materials such as shingles and soffit that they are no longer selling. An employee told me they were eliminating some stuff to make room for more sporting goods. More profit in sporting goods.

I have yet to see a Fleet Farm that looks like that in Wisconsin. The new one in Eau Claire is really nice, and has a gun counter like that.

Our fleet farm has a glass cabinet behind a counter for rifles and shotguns. Hand guns are under a glass counter. Any expansion in products has gone to the grocery department.

The fleet farm in Blaine MN reconfigured to look like that. They had always had a pretty good out doomed section, but went heavy into guns after the nearby Ganders were converted. I knew one of the gun salesman at Gander in Forest Lake and he had been told the new Gander owner was promising to be the lowest priced guns and ammo, but that hasn’t been anywhere close to reality. Cabelas is slipping in my opinion as well. Focused on camping and clothing.

With Dick’s stopping gun sales in many of their stores this will help smaller gun shops and local area stores. I stopped going to Dick’s stores several years ago when I realized they were libs.

For you guys who have purchased large ticket items and gotten discounts, how did you corrdinate it. Wait for a sale and then open a credit card? Is there also a manager discount?
