I have a guy coming from wisconsin tomorrow to buy my old truck. Question is, I don't want the truck leaving until the title is transfered, can it be done at a mn DMV for a guy that lives in wisconsin?

No has to be done in WI. Draw up a bill of sale with time/date/signature if you’re worried about liability

Bill of sale?.....I think he can pay me, go transfer the title, bring me the paperwork and then drive the truck home.

Yeah I’d do that if he is willing to wait on taking possession

Yeah I’d do that if he is willing to wait on taking possession If he wants it, he better be willing. No way am I turning the truck loose to anyone with it still being in my name. I see nothing but trouble in doing that.

I see nothing but trouble in doing that. Pull the plates, get a bill of sale signed, dated and time. You'll have nothing to worry about. The local cop shop's use to have transfer papers that may also be an option.

Do I really want to trust a liberal court system to say, Hey John your in the clear.....Fuck That!

Better tell the buyer what you want to do. If it was me and somebody told me i couldn't take the vehicle and title after i paid for it I'd tell them to pound sand. Especially after driving a couple hundred miles.

Especially after driving a couple hundred miles. He knows, I would never do that. But I have had 5 guys now wanting to buy but refuse to go to the DMV and transfer the title with me. they all want me to sign it over. I have to much to lose by doing that for a $4000 truck. It can stay here and I will keep using it as far as I am concerned. Big Johns way or the highway......

The Ad!
For sale is my 2004 Ford F-250 XLT 4x4 super duty truck for sale. Has a 5.4 V-8 gas motor with automatic transmission. I am the original owner, truck was bought new in 2004. Well cared for its whole life. Service and oil changes done at the ford garage every 3000-3500 miles. Has high miles but still runs great as we used it to travel back and forth from MN to Missouri weekly. Shows a little rust as you can see in the pictures but not bad for its age. Bed is in great shape, Tires are new on the front very good on the back. Just installed a new $160 battery. Comes with brake control in the cab and has Great brakes also. Motor uses no oil between changes and runs smooth. Transmission was replaced with a reman and still has some warranty left. Manual shift transfer case oil was just changed as well. Has air bags on the back axle for hauling trailers and comes with a gooseneck ball in the bed. Has the heavy duty snow plow suspension package on the front. Never had a plow, but would make a great plow truck. Bought a new 4 Dr truck is why we are selling. Asking $3,950.00 or BO. Call John at 763-two three eight-1430 We will transfer the title before it leaves the yard. Thanks.

Does not seem a big deal. You keep the little title chunk and mail it off to the state and its all good. If he does not transfer your chunk makes it good?
