There is so much off-roading available here in OZ.....and I am researching a Jeep Wrangler.....likely equipped as a Rubicon Unlimited or a Sahara MOAB Edition Unlimited. It would be a blast to explore some of these old ghost towns up in the hills.....and some of the old gold mines and go shooting in the desert.....or just out for a picnic and a ride in the wild. Doing allot of research.......but have never owned a "serious" off road Jeep like this. Closest I have come is my Jeep Grand Cherokee.....which I got RID of due to issues with the damn air suspension and a few other tech issues that Jeep had not figured out before making them. it was a great vehicle until I got 100k miles on it....then....not so much. The Wrangler is a bit different animal in that regard. It doesn't seem to pay to look at used....when they bring nearly a new price even when 1/2 worn out. I think I want that MOAB edition as it is a serious off road Jeep....yet it's drivable for highway use too. Anyone own something in this area? I am considering trading my Honda Ridgeline for a Jeep.....and then making one trip each way every year with the Jeep. That way I'd have a great vehicle in both MN and OZ....and ONE "reasonable' (yet overpriced) investment. BTW....(and of special note to SD) they do offer a HYBRID 4 banger for about 5k more. ARGH!! Not gonna happen. . FORE!

You are having a way after mid life crisis in that old folks community. Lot easier to sit in the bar and have a cocktail. You don’t have to go anywhere, you don’t have to repair anything, you don’t get dirty and you don’t have to get a fancy rig to impress the ladies. You just have to breath to impress them.

I'd say they're pretty close if not better then a jeep. That review shows their differences and pros and cons of each. Check them both out and see for yourself.

^. Jeep did get into the pickup truck biz in a big way just recently. I have yet to see one of their new trucks.....but they seem to have all the right stuff to make a mid-size pickup with super towing and off-roading capabilities. I think they tow up to 6500 lbs or so.....and have the same ability of a Rubicon in the off-road department. Might make a good trade for my Honda Pickup rig. More research to do. finance.yahoo.com/news/2020-jeep-gladiator-everything-want-040100683.html

I love the old Power Wagons! Foggy, why not keep your Honda and just buy you a Razor or something for the trails. Probably spend a little less money and have something more purpose built that will really sit you in your seat... Then you can tow it through KS and we'll ramp field terraces after drinking a bunch of single malts (with clear cubes of course).

Then you can tow it through KS and we'll ramp field terraces after drinking a bunch of single malts (with clear cubes of course). Yeah....that's a thought. But the desert is pretty hot and dusty. The Jeep would have AC, cabin filtered air, and windows. And I can pack a cooler of food and beer and some guns along.....and take about 4 folks along for the day. I have considered those Razors....and they are fun for a couple rides.....then.....not so much. Some folks do like em. Edit: One other thing about living here.....is that you are somewhat limited on what you can own.....and you need to keep it in your garage or at a rental garage space, etc. The sun here is brutal and will wreck anything left outside.....and the HOA is more brutal and will fine you for letting anything sit in your yard or even in your driveway for more than a few days. It's somewhat restrictive....but on the other hand, that is what makes it a nice place to live.
