Like I said, room to haul beer, cougars, and guns. Might be a long trip down there.

I'd say they're pretty close if not better then a jeep. That review shows their differences and pros and cons of each. Check them both out and see for yourself. You guys sure they’re still making the FJ? I thought they discontinued them? I agree that they’re good off road. My special ops guy neighbor has one.

Stopped making them in 2014 but the used market is still good.

Here is the new Jeep Gladiator in the Rubicon trim. The Rubicon has the locker Dana axels front and rear....sway bar disconnect and all the stuff that makes the Rubicon the best off road vehicle money can buy....including super low gears for rock crawling, all the skid plates and rock sliders....and so much more. Very well outfitted on the inside too. Now.....it's got a wheel base that is 18" longer for the 5 foot bed.....and the ride is said to be much improved over the Rubicon Unlimited (4 door) and it can tow up to 6500 lbs. I am considering trading my Honda Ridgeline for one of these....and driving it in MN 6 months out of the year.....and then making a trek to AZ for the winter.....rinse and repeat each year. Always lots of crap to haul anyway.....and this may be ALLOT of fun and fairly practical. 20mpg hi way......until a diesel engine is offered later this year. I like gas. . Oh baby.....I think this is my new rig. .

Looks a little long for some of the tight trails we've got in az.

Looks a little long for some of the tight trails we've got in az. Yep....that could be somewhat of an issue......its 18" longer wheelbase than a Rubi Unlimited. I dont know that it would be as good in some applications.....but it sure would offer and improved ride in other situations. I likely dont need to go in some of the ultimate off road trails......but I need to learn more. I think this will be a hot item for Jeep. The reviews have been pretty positive.

^. OK.....I think I am over that new Jeep Gladiator idea.....tho I think it could be a great vehicle under certain terrain and circumstances. I'm back to a used Rubicon or Sahara(for the ride and creature comforts) as they are plentiful and a good one for my purposes can be bought for a fraction of new. Also.....the days of driving from MN to OZ are close to over for me. That is a tough couple of days for most folks.....and costs more than flying. Take me three grueling days....or four average days of driving to get here(plus hotels, gas, and food) vs a plane ticket for $200. or some points on our CC. The best jeep trails in the world are located about 6 hours away near Moab UT and the Bryce Canyon area.....but the mountains, desert and hills are full of trails to explore around here too. Lots of group rides and 4 wheeling clubs around here.....you can find a group outing on most any day.....if you need some company on a rugged trail (advisable for us newbies). Still learning and researching this plan.....and won't do anything until later in the year or next year. I gotta make a plan on how to get some tools and guns and reloading stuff down here. I got a benchers rifle that would be fun to compete with here (their is little interest in that in MN....but lots here) and some of my extra tools would be good for off-roading stuff. Phew...lots of planning and work to do. Keeps us old-timers busy and away from your wimen. . FORE!

Google Moab Utah....and Bryce Canyon in Utah. Then google the Grand Canyon. Those places are hard to describe.....and can make for some fantastic experiences. But not from the family sedan. Just saying. Hiking is good...but when your old....driving these trails is far better. . Walking would be like trying to cover the northern 1/2 of MN of foot. Maybe NOT! Lots of land to see.....and places to go. Check it out1.
