Other things I've learned, is I don't need soybeans and can't grow corn. That would be like trying to get Buffalo Wild Wings to war orphans. It's just unnecessary. Nobody in my neighborhood is trying that hard. It doesn't take much to be 'best available' up by me.

If you have the best food in the neighborhood, is there anything holding you back from having some good hunting and killing some bucks? I know you bagged a deer last fall with your bow up there if I'm remembering right, but I don't remember if you guys had any luck with bucks there yet or not. It seems like you should be closing in on some consistent hunting pretty soon.

It seems like you should be closing in on some consistent hunting pretty soon. I don't know what the reason is. I quit trying to figure out why there are no bucks. I gave up cameras. I don't shoot on my land. I stay out of 90% of it after Christmas. My neighbors are too old to even walk in the woods. There are no dogs, and few wolves. I've found a way to enjoy it for what it is. I've got lots of tricks up my sleeve to keep moving the needle, but I don't lose sleep over bucks. There are others in my neighborhood that stress over that, and they get themselves so worked up into such a lather they damn near quit hunting.

I did look at the ODO on my Kawa 400 today. It has 2500 miles or so. It also had the hours.....but I forgot how many that is. It doesn't really go very far....as it mostly has been used on my place. Motor is still very sound.

For about twenty years, I had too much focus on big bucks and got all wound up if someone shot a small buck or if someone else shot a big buck and I didn’t. My wife of 34 years(today!) straightened me out. It is supposed to be fun and I do my best to not worry about what Deer others shoot as long as they are legal. No trail cameras has been a good move for me. I only miss seeing the critters other than deer.

It doesn't take much to be 'best available' up by me. Just a pickup full of corn. Bet you have neighbors doing it.

Sd be like "I don't need a four wheeler" Lol! I almost sprayed my pc with a mouth full of water. That's right up there with Bevis humpin the couch! Now I gotta get back outside. I have 15 yards of rock and wood chips that needs to have a dent put in it.

Thought about this thread when I was cleaning up my prairie 700 Honda today. I've had it for about 5 years or so. Gonna show some guests my land this week. Those back seats are nice to have at times. Still the bed can haul and dump when the seats are folded down. Nice features. I like this machine for a deer property. Also I think you would need to buy a trailer if you don’t have a box behind. Would look sweet with a flail mower hanging on the front of it....no? . I'm not sure why its named a Prairie "700" as it has a 500 cc single cylinder engine in it.....coupled with a two speed transmission. Drives like a car. Nice ride. Fairly nimble. Hauls 4 large adults nicely.....and you can add a kid to the bench seats for five in a pinch. The bed can haul dirt or deer if you ever kill one. . Goes most everywhere. Prefer to use it over a wheeler for most things. I use it with my Herd seeder and with my fimco sprayer at times. Pulls a drag or a packer nicely. Engine size is great for plotting. The windshield is nice when going thru tight trails and brush.....and super when it's cold outside. Some things are not needed but nice to have for an equipment junkie. I have a roof that covers the passengers and keeps things dry when it rains or snows. I put a windshield on....a wiper....heater......winch......and LED lights that are super bright....and work nice for retrieving deer or gutting a deer in the dark (got two BRIGHT lights in the back that work really slick). These accessories can really add up......beware. Probably find a good used one if you do some searching.....and could get allot of the add-on equipment for "free". Seems lots of folks buy one and then don't need it or cannot really afford one??? Dunno....but lots of late model used stuff is out there.

Foggys 4 seater reminded me of pig hunts in Texas.
One thing many don’t realize for natural deer movement is you absolutely can not talk on parcels where solo men are the norm.
Solo men run machines. If the only time of year humans talk is deer season some of the deer will go underground.
