I am leaving this evening for a week long fishing trip. Going to a lake system that we haven't ever fish. The place is close to Upsala , Ontario. One of the guys going has a friend that has gone to the place for 30 years so we have a map from him with the hot spots. Hope the weather cooperates for us. No matter I am sure we will have a good time.

We were just there from June 8-14. Fishing was pretty good. Weather fairly cool. Westerly wind most of the week. Caught walleyes anywhere from 3-17ft. Water temps seemed cooler than normal. We've been going for 20+ years. Pine Point Resort. Reserve Bay was good. Duck Bay (one north of portage bay) was good. Fisherman's Island was good, south of the cabin. We went west one day and did ok. First time we've ever been past fisherman's. Nice to see a different part of the lake for a change. Rocks are an issue. Get a good map or hopefully someone has been there or has a good lake map on the locator.
We usually hit Bolton Bay once but did not on this trip. Heard water temp was upper 50's in there.
We had a group of 10. Biggest eye was 28", 4 25's, several 22-23's. Good quality and quantity this year. Biggest northern was 40". Perch 11". Our group uses worms/leeches. Fish were puking up plenty of minnows. We've never tried them but I'm sure they do good. Might be pricey.
What resort are you staying at?

Never been to Canada to fish. I've heard it's a blast. Good luck and have fun. We expect pics!

What part of the lake is thunderbird located? Our week was cool and windy after the first day. I hate dealing with the heat up there. That sun is intense that far north. Where did you try fishing?

Thunderbird is on the north side of Cushing Lake which connects to Lac de Milles lac by a channel. We fished the north part of system, getting farther out each day. We only had camp boats on this trip. Only bumped one rock with prop but no damage. Badgerfowl what resort did you stay at? The whole trip only costed 700 bucks.

Nice central location. Gravel road is a bit of a pain at times but not terrible. Once there, we don’t leave. We did the rental boat thing for years before bringing our own up. Just makes the rides longer and wetter. That lake can get churned up in a hurry. When we went west towards boot bay it seemed like there were more islands to block the wind than where we usually go. I didn’t realize you were up in Cushing. We’ve talked to a few people and they all say to go west (from pine point). Bigger fish I guess. We’ve done pretty good though doing what we do. I got a 30” back in 2002. My dad has 5 28” in the last 5 years or so. Fun lake.
