Man, its a weekly occurrence for me to hear a bird thunk my windows. Even a young pileated one day. He sat on the deck dazed for a while but left.

About 6 years years ago I had a tame golden finch. There was one who always was the last to leave the feeder when I'd go out to fill it. I'd only put enough in the feeder to last a day so he got use to me being there every day. After a week or so I'd hold my hand out and walk up to the feeder really slow. It took a little more than a week and I had my finger right in front of him. It took a few more day and I was able to touch/pet his belly. A few days later he would jump on my finger. This went on most the summer, I walk around the yard with him on my finger. Or when I was cutting the lawn he come land on me. One day when we were eating supper we heard a big crash on the patio door. Looked outside and there was my little pet, he didn't make it. I guessed he saw me sitting at the table and wanted to come sit on me. I had some pictures on my old phone but lost them when it fell into the creek.
