Seems the NRA is going to pieces.....at a time we could sure use a sensible organization defending our 2nd Amendment. I, personally, think Wayne LaPew is a problem and has risen too far in the organization.....and for too long has held his position. Also, I think the NRA took too strong of a stand on semi-auto rifles and high capacity magazines. I know some of you guys will feel differently.....and I respect that....but I gotta wonder if these products do more harm then good for our society.
Some time back.....we got started down a slippery slope........and I fear things will go downhill. Discussion?

No matter what laws you enact, criminals, by definition, do not obey such laws. Any law regarding high-capacity magazines and semi automatic rifles that would have been enacted in the last few decades would not have changed much in my opinion. Those items have been around far too long for any recent law to make a difference

Hard to think you feel that way foggy. I'm a hardline don't give them an inch type of person when it comes to the second amendment and feel if the Republicans and trump give up anything on guns it'll be bloodbath at the polls next November. I'll call it now and say if there's any new gun laws passed trump won't be our next president.

Because conservatives will say "why vote for him if he's just like the dems?".

There is no common ground with a political party that hates non-believers and has been chomping at the bit to shred the entire bill of rights. They hate everything about you Foggy.
Everything.

The media prism sure is negative towards black rifles but the facts don't support the narrative. They should spend more time talking about the underlying reasons for violence in cities like Chicago, Baltimore and others. Dems will never address the real issues as that would undermine one of their primary tenants (Welfare State). No politician on either side has the stomach to pass anything significant for gun control. Tighter background checks and money for mental health is what I would expect

These are the people with whom you'll be breaking bread and coming up with a way to deal with the folly of you having rights.

More homicides by knives than all types of rifles.

If funding dries up we have problems on the horizon. Cash behind the curtain trumps public opinion.

So we do nothing about whakos acquiring and keeping guns? There has to be a way to take guns from these people. 2 of the last three mass shootings there were plenty of warnings these guys should be taken out. The FBI even got called on one and nothing was done. Trump is a common sense President and common sense is not everyone should have guns. The problem is how do you do it with out taking rights from the 99% that should have guns. There are two choices, do nothing so no ones rights are infringed on or have a way to deal with the 1%. Our government won’t do anything so nothing will change. I have taught my kids to have their head on a swivel and how to escape bad situations. Also, looking into bullet proof back packs. As our country continues down the shitter these shootings are only going to increase. There are a lot of potential shooters in the 10-30 age group.

I feel we need a strong NRA, but every organization struggles at some point. They seem to get top heavy.
I fear these red flag rules and liberal judges taking people’s guns away. I just don’t know how you define when people are a significant risk.
Every divorce or break up could lead to the loss of someone ‘s guns. Who would eventually get them? Would they ever be returned? Would County and city governments pay for storage or would it just be a permanent confiscation and destruction of the guns?
