Hang a jacket on a hanger inside from middle of ceiling so the deer get used to movement. Those flags will help accomplish the same.

So I got it painted and up on the wagon.... Modular design helped, but man am I getting old for this shit! My hands feel like I have been in a fist fight! It's roughly 14' to the roof. It's a little unstable on the move, but once we get it placed, leveled and the like I think it will work out well. Looks great. I bet it sways when you move it. That should give you years of hunting service.

Not sure if old glory will stay or not, but I tend to place SMV whip flags on my towers. The deer get used to the movement and hopefully it keeps the neighbors from shooting in that general direction. I have heard of the hanging shirt swinging in the breeze as well.

The plan is to put it in place and then level it and the like to take the tires off the ground to steady it....maybe put some side braces up. It's a bit top heavy and only going to get worse so taking it too far at any real speed is NOT recommended. It will also be down in a bottom area so it will be somewhat out of the wind as well. I hope to get a better roof and exterior covering on it at some point to really help it last, but we will see. For now....I gotta get the door on and the windows in and we at least will have function.

^. Maybe getting the tires loaded with water would help? Grin. Putting a jack on two or more corners would really help to stabilize and level it.

^. Maybe getting the tires loaded with water would help? Filling the hopper with corn would do the same thing. Grin. Putting a jack on two or more corners would really help to stabilize and level it.

Yep - the "plan" is to level it once it's in the hunting location and get it up off the tires. I thought about RV levelers but that may be overkill. My fear is that over the season the tires will sink. I have some slate and some blocking I can use to get it up off the tires and adjust as needed. I never thought about putting ballast in the tires.....or even the hopper for that matter. Too bad baiting is illegal here. Some ballast of corn or soybeans could be interesting....since the gate still works!

Even sand or some old concrete would add some ballast. Sand would be easier to get out some day. Any weight down low will help stabilize it.

If its on a plot I would want to be able to move it for archery hunts. Move to the action next night and deer don't care.

Agreed....keeping the wheels on and ready to roll to a new spot is one of the advantages of a blind like this. I would consider jacks like on an RV or screw jacks to level / stabilize.

I had no intention of removing the wheels.....just getting the tires up off the ground to give it some stability. I'll look into some sort of jacking mechanism. Can't say I gave it much thought to move in season....but it would be possible. Plan was to mostly gun hunt from it...but plenty of room for bow if we wanted to. I'm not a big bow hunter but being able to move to hot deer sign or activity could be a significant game changer.
if this goes well, I can see the other towers I have being converted as well. Being able to move them around and bring them to the house for repairs and upgrades and the like will be advantageous down the road. My wife will be thrilled!

IF I add some ballast to the tires I will consult my local farmer (he rents my place and is my Wife's cousin) and see what he recommends. My concern about anything like that is the impact on the wheel. My well water has a LOT of iron in it so I would be fearful of using that in the tires due to advancing the wheels from rusting from the inside out. I will see how things go as it may or may not be needed. I'll figure something out if that needs to happen. I got windows on order (will be here just before Halloween).....(3) 48" wide x 24" tall vinyl double sliders for ~$200. The panes even come out if I want the entire space open as well. I'm hoping to toss some metal on the roof and some carpet on the floor before we are gun hunting as well.

anybody have any experience with foam filled tires? I am interested in the added ballast as well as the reduction of a chance of a flat. Not sure if the top heavy nature of my contraption would tolerate a flat tire..... I know with foam you have to cut the tires off for replacement....but they are new and I think I may gain some positive attributes in doing this.
