So we have had some recent discussions on tree felling/hinging, and I was wondering if anyone thought this would be something they would use. I know some guys pull larger trees down with comealongs and ATVs tied to the trees. This could(?) be used by hand as well, This is something I designed more than a year ago, but the more I thought about it the less benefit I thought it might have, I will let you guys decide. It has it's own built in rope storage on the "back" side, and it is used with a heavy rope with a carabiner on each end. Unhook 1 carabiner, toss it over a branch with one end attached to the rope, lower it down, hook up the loose end of the rope, pull it up until the Hinge-R-Ang is hooked on the tree above the limb, and use it to pull the tree over. The teeth will bite the trees bark and prevent slippage of the "hook". Seems like too much work that could be done with just the rope I guess, so maybe it is pointless? That is why I haven't posted it before. I would like everyone's input, especially if it is bad, so I can verify my suspicion that it is pointless....

Put that thing on a tree, having a hard time visualizing how to use

Are you attaching rope to both ends so you have a big loop?

Yes, after you unhook one end and toss it up over the limb, you lower it back down to hook up the loop and then pull the "hook" back up to dig into the bark to prevent slipping and wear on the ropes.

Whip,
I just run a chain or rope around stuff I'm trying to pull. It looks like it would grab the wood well but, I'm. Not sure if it would be needed in most cases.

I was going to make a video of how it was supposed to work, but the more I figured it was basically pointless, so I never got around to it? It would save on rope damage though?

Shape is wrong. I would consider making one with a j shape with wings off the straight part to wrap your rope around and a single hole to tie the rope to. The idea would be to toss it up over a branch and it would hook and then pull on the rope. It would be a lot easier to carry around then a pole.

If i'm going to throw a rope over a branch to use it why would I need it. I'd just use the rope and be done with it. Sorry to burst your bubble but you asked for opinions.

That ^^^ was my thought after I looked over the one I made. It was a fun experiment and reason to tinker with the plasma table, which I hadn't done in a while after going into the office.

I did think about the "hook" design, but figured if it did end up not hooking well enough and it slipped off in the middle of a pull, it would become a deadly projectile and there are to many Fudd's in the world, I am not getting my ass sued over that. The rope hooked on both sides was more or less a safety precaution.

Due to my land location, I do almost no habitat work. So my opinion means little.
To me, it looks like something else heavy to carry with you. The same thing could be accomplished by a rope that would be less likely to take your head off if something went wrong.
