I had fun with this one on a medium light St Croix Rod. 33 inches. I released her for another day. Water temps were 74. I hope she made it. Nice fish .

I caught this one along with a bunch of crappie and bass at a local lake by the house. Threw them all back. I'm not a big fan of eating summer fish. They get too mushy for me.

I don’t care for northerns in the summer but will eat walleyes and sunnies. They go on ice right after catching them.

Looks like I should go fishing for northerns this weekend. Were you catching them on deep weedlines or other structure?

I caught the northern on an 18 foot deep bar with a few rocks on it, fishing for walleyes. This was a deep lake with tullibee in it. A friend showed me a picture of a 39 inch he just caught while fishing walleyes. He doesn’t fish deeper than 14 feet in that prairie type of lake.

Lots of fishing over the long weekend- a great mix of perch, northerns and trout.
I fried up most of the boneless northern sections, but kept the backstrap sections for pickling. I’ve never pickled fish before, but I have a batch going right now. The trout are in a different brine solution and I’ll smoke them tomorrow.

Parents upgraded the boat this past weekend. Drove around a couple hours playing with the graphs and breaking in the big motor. Didn’t do any fishing as it was a shit show out there. Hopefully get out there Friday night.

Nice boat, what kind of motor is on that? Looks like a great walleye and multi-species boat.
My dad has a Lund 1700 with a 90 horse and it is a great boat.

We're coming from a 1675 explorer w/ a 90 hp so it's not a huge upgrade but you can tell it's almost an 18' boat (17'11" I believe). It's 6" wider and over a foot longer than the old one. I thought it handled the waves better, rode higher, etc. It'll go to Canada walleye fishing and be great (not too big) for the lake they live on.
