Been putting in some new gadgets at home. Been doing it myself for the most part, which has lead to a bunch of cussing and swearing, but getting through it.
Finally got DSL in rural Kanabec County MN, and since the guy that runs our golf course also has a local Internet company, I had him put it in. Twenty times faster then my satellite Internet and it is half the money, it was a no brainer once it was ready to hook up. Then since I have high speed now, I Installed a couple of Honeywell Wifi Thermostats so I can keep an Eye on the house and the heated garage while away this winter.Took me a while to get my fat fingers to punch in the right numbers to get them going, but they work well now from anywhere.
Also hooked up a new Night Owl wireless security camera system I picked up at Walmart for under $400. Got the thing hooked up with some help from tech support and have been playing with camera signal strength around the farm. When it says signal up to 300' feet that means 140' at best, They go in and out of reception past that it seems like. Came with an upgraded long reach antenna, but that only got me to 140' away from the base unit. Any have any ideas on how to boost signal strength let me know.
These wireless cameras have pretty decent picture quality for cheapo's. I like the motion detection and the audio feature to talk back and forth with someone if needed also.
Dropping Dish network tv now as well. Moving to a Fubu TV package with what we like for once again, half the money. Tried Youtube TV, that sucked so we cancelled.
Giving the Cuda a few less things to worry about when we are gone.

Not sure Mo. is the issue that the remote camera is not seeing the WiFi network beyond 140’ or it’s not seeing the camera controller beyond 140’?
If it’s not seeing the WiFi network there are WiFi signal boosters out there that expand the WiFi signal. They’re not that expensive. They see you WiFi network, add the WiFi password during setup and it just works transparently. So if your remote camera works by seeing the WiFi then that may work for you. They do require a power outlet.

Sold camera signal up to 140’, after that seems to jump from picture to no signal.

So if you are traveling your phone sees other WiFi? On the camera is that connecting to the home WiFi and then shows the picture or does it just show the picture automatically? If it connectsto your WiFi then a booster should work. If it just connects direct without using your WiFi network then I’m not sure.

It’s probably better to a booster made by the company that made your WiFi router if possible.
