This is the correct paint; interior latex? I have lots of suckers to trim from the trunks (they like to pop up under my window screen). Can I paint immediately after pruning, or should I wait until the wounds have healed? Also, the suckers tend to multiply every time I prune... cut one and three come out of the cut. Any way to prevent this? Any tips before I start? This will be the first try at painting trees...

I ain't painting my truck with that shit. But I hear it works great on apple trees.
I did my apples a few years ago and bought the cheapest interior white latex paint they had. Mixed it with water and it seemed to do just fine. Need to do it again this year as it's mostly gone now.

I Use 50/50 interior latex and water mix and I apply the paint in the fall after all growth has stopped and the trees are going dormant.
I prune in the winter and if there are any unwanted new shoots I prune them off in the summer. That way you shouldn't have to worry about painting unwanted shoots in the fall.

Yea I think I painted mine in August if I remember. Pretty much after any new growth was done.

Sigh... you guys keep a person on their toes, that's for sure. Smart-asses about it, but true. By the way... the truck does happen to be white.

Did you only paint the south side of the truck white or did you do the whole thing?

I'll paint the whole damn thing. No sense in only doing half even if the sun is more to the south during the winter.
What about adding insecticides? I think I've heard of people using permethrin in their whitewash to protect against borers.

I put sevin in mine. Cut those sprouts off in July or August and most won’t grow back.
