I would pick that bluegill first, but the crappie and largemouth look good too- Didn't keep any tonight. Hardly ever keep bass, but bluegill and crappie are good. Could have been a good mess of fish. Probably 10 bluegill that size and 20 crappie.

Probably 10 bluegill that size and 20 crappie. How big do those 3 species get in your lake? Do they boom and bust with wet and dry spells or do they slowly get bigger every year? That looks like a great setup for some good tasting fish.

Most of what I caught last night were in small ponds. Those were big bluegill, normal sized crappie (we catch eating size and smaller, hardly ever big crappie), and small bass. Each pond is different and they stay about the same most of the time. The watershed produces some big bass and channel cats. 9-10lb bass and 8-12lb cats have been caught.

We got crappie and red-ear spawning here. The red-ear are more aggressive so they take the prime spawning spots and the crappie get what's left. Not much of any real size...the otters fixed that... We don't keep many either....we used to keep the occasional channel cat but that was about it. We catch the carp and throw them over the hill for the coons! I like a good warm day in the sun with a little fishing action and a cold beer in my had! And just about the time I get to that point I hear..."Dad! I got my line up in the tree...again!!!" Oh well, at least they are out enjoying it as well. They could be doing far worse things!
