Anyone have success transplanting a 4’ish year old Dolgo? What’s the root system like? I planted this in a terrible spot and while it’s still alive and kicking out fruit I’d like to move it to my orchard. Thoughts?

I did a bunch this year. The seedlings came out easy, the grafted ones got beat up pretty bad. It has been cold and rainy since I did it and they look like they are going to wake up fine.

I think it’s too late to do now. It’s not dormant. I’d do it when dormant. If I did it I’d cut it back and try planting the stem a little deeper so that there more truck to pump out roots. I’ve read where you take a spade in the fall and dig down around the root ball cutting some roots which gets it to produce more smaller roots near the trunk. Then dig it up in the spring before it breaks dormancy.
