On Thursday of this week I sprayed this larger plot with the typical 2 quart per acre of gly and 1 pint per acre of 2 4D. around June 15th I will spray again with another two quarts of gly per acre if needed. Then willll be over seeded with buckwheat. The plot will be be divided into three parts and around August 1st will be seeded and the buckwheat will be sprayed and then will be flattened on top . The field breakdown will be as followed please forgive the crude drawing. The green area which is about .59 acres. this was a failed sorghum plot last year with mostly weeds and understory of volunteer clover. It will be put into the typical LC mix with field peas soybeans and rye. the blue area was a throw and roll plot of sorghum last year it was mildly successful however I don't think I seed it heavy enough it is about .3 acres and this will be a clover and chicory plot. The black area was typical field grass last year it's about .4 acres this will be a brassica plot I'm going to go with only radish and purple top turnips this year

this is my larger plot it was a cornfield two years ago. I attempted to the plant sorghum last year which was a complete failure. about a week to two weeks ago I sprayed it with the two quarts per acre of gly 1 pint per acre of 2 4 d, so far I have gotten a decent kill other than spots I obviously missed. around June 1st I'm going to try sorghum again and hopefully the weed pressure is less at this time. If I have a failure again I will just spray gly around August 1st and then just plant clover and rye here.

these two spots are within about 50 yards of each other and I'm kind of debating on what I should do here they are both planted in rye and Alice clover last year. The longer one stays pretty darn wet for most of the year. I'm thinking of just spraying the rye with cleth as this one does have a decent amount of clover showing and maybe this fall overseeding with more clover and rye and then maintain this as clover plot. Sorry forgot to snap a pic of the longer one The smaller one has a decent amount of rye coming in but I think I want to try brassica here but I'm debating on whether the available sunlight will allow them to grow

Are there many windfalls in there?

Here is my soil sample back from my in woods plot, surprised by the pH. I have mostly been planting rye and some red clover in here,. I know I do need to take out some trees to open it up I recommend a full rate of sun, and nothing else. You've got high OM, in sandy soil, with good sulfate. If could pick a perfect soil, it's what you have right there. I wouldn't even recommend gypsum, but one bag wouldn't hurt just to be sure. Gonna go out on a limb here, but I bet you don't spray and till this very often?

Here is my soil sample back from my in woods plot, surprised by the pH. I have mostly been planting rye and some red clover in here,. I know I do need to take out some trees to open it up If I might make a suggestion on opening up that plot, I would try to hinge or lay down the trees parallel to the plot edge and block as much access from the predominately downwind side as possible, and leave only openings on that side that are in a position to get you a good shot within bow range. I would also put down P-K in that plot to get closer to the recommended amounts of P-K from that soil test as well. How big is that plot? If it is 1 acre or less, you could get away with 1 bag each of triple superphosphate or DAP (DAP will provide some N as well) and one bag of potassium sulfate. You should be able to get both from your local coop.

yes the soil sample is a mix of 3 different small plots maybe 400sq yards each that are really close to each other.
