Ya, I know some habitat "gurus" suggest spraying gly on stand approach trails and those that you want to monitor deer track sizes. I've got about 2 miles of trails that are all wide enough to run an atv on, but there are way too many narrow spots to run a golf cart or UTV. If I could keep them in pure grasses, it would be pretty convenient. I don't think that's possible without an at least annual dose of herbicide. I suppose it's just as easy to mow them once or twice a year. I spray my ATV trails. Get lots of pictures of deer on it. From what I see on videos from trailcams the deer use them often. They use them to get from point a to point b. They don't screw around feeding. As I don't hunt these trails, it is a good thing for me. For some one that has a tree stand on the trail it might be a bad thing. What do you spray them with?

What do you spray them with? Glyphosate. the entire width of the trail or just a "stripe" down the middle?

the entire width of the trail or just a "stripe" down the middle? About 4 foot width which is what sprayer is with the arms of sprayer folded in.

I mowed the steepest section of my north line with the Billy Goat this morning. Pretty good workout for a fat, old man. I didn't stop to take any pics, but there's a heck of a beaten down trail right down that section of mowed trail. I don't mow that section really wide, but I do keep it knocked back enough to get through on the ATV.

We mowed the trails at home Wed. Wide enough for the utv to run without touching anything. Used the ego hedage trimmer to clean stuff hanging over.

I like to mow grass and brush under oak trees. They love to eat acorns under a short grass big oak tree !

We spent 4 hours with chainsaws and put up a new ladder stand . By dark there were deer using the new trail . Didn’t take long ! Lots of pics.
I honestly think deer are so used to saws, they check it out later !

We’ve been clearing obvious trails for an ATV or for walking . In hopes the deer and turkey will use them as well. It’s not really our goal to use the trails very often. Rare if ever in the fall .
Mostly needed to haul deer out easier.
This farm got hit by a tornado in 2009 I believe and there’s still a lot of dead trees/clutter. We have bigger equipment (Bobcat) rented in two weeks. That should get us to where we need to be !

Stu- we will have stands just north of the trails, for a South wind. Easy access in and out. This farm has only 2-3 spots for N wind !
Seems like more S/SW/SE winds the past 2-3 years !
