Marestail responds well to mowing. It becomes a multi stemmed gly resistant medusa of evil. Ragweed is also my favorite winter seed source for quail.

If you want deer food, I would run a disk over it right now and then let the ground sit for 2-3 weeks to allow the weeds and rye to germinate. Then I'd spray with round up and broadcast brassicas the same day. With a little luck the brassicas will grow quickly and prevent weeds from taking over.

I purchased two bags of rye today and I asked if they have any leftover corn seed for sale to use for food plots next spring.
After loading my 2 bags of rye he threw in 2 bags of corn seed for free. I looked it up and it looked like some good stuff, so I'm in good shape already for next spring.

I had 10 bags of rye delivered today along with some piggy treats. Lots of new plots to green up this season. Love rye for inside and outside the fence

What did you pay per bag? My rye was $20 per 55 pound bag, which was more than last year.
Still worth it if it grows and keeps the deer around a little longer than normal
