Definitely not Jap Millet. I do not believe it is Pennsylvania sedge either. Some other type of sedge is plausible though.
My guess is yellow nutsedge...

It sucks. It grows around my patio every year. I hit it with round up often and it just keeps coming back.

Goes to show that SD’s theory is correct. One year it’s ragweed, one year it’s foxtail, and now it’s sedge. Remove something and something else fills in

Explosion of it this year across the country. I sold more Permit herbicide this year then 10 years combined just for that.

That's interesting. I was hand weeding a few pigweeds in my beans this week and I saw that same weed for the first time.
Just a couple small clumps, but it is definitely new to me.
Is this stuff good, bad or somewhere in between?

Remove something and something else fills in My plots were all sedge of some sort when I bought my place. One shot of powermax knocked it out. It does come back though. When I abandoned my south plot after only one crop, that shit came back taller and stronger than when I found it. I wiped out whatever was holding it back. Now my north plot was a little different. I'm guessing it has a little more elevation, because the native plants were slightly different (hazel, oak, tag alder, balsam). I mowed early last year when it wasn't even really up yet. Haven't mowed yet this year, and there still isn't much at all.
