I just realized there is a large amount of black knot fungus on some cherry plum trees at the cabin. Research says I should prune it out before leaf out in the spring. Since I just found it, should I prune it now? I have 2 of these trees. One looks healthy with a few fruit. The other has a lot of fungus.
Not sure if it matters, but we are in a drought right now. Plus I’m zone 6 so we don’t have real bad winters like most of you.

Best practice with black knot is to prune it out and remove from the area.
