Well last friday the weather app said there was a 100% of an inch of rain coming in 3hrs and like a dope I trusted it and hurried to the farm and spread 70lbs of urea on this .44 acre. well of course it never materialized, however we did get .3 inches through out the weekend and this is what the brassicas look like now, I could not see any of the urea on top of the soil. My question should I spread some more here soon is I know rain is definitely coming or hold of and see how it does? Brassicas were planted 7/12

I planted these 7/18. I put down 50 lbs urea at planting (plus 100 lbs 17-17-17) and I think we got about 1/2” rain right away to get this plot going. I’m coming up on the 30 days post planting urea application as well. Rain has been very sparse lately. We’re getting a tenth at a time. Not sure if that’s enough to help with the urea or if you need a good 1/2-1”. Did you add any urea or other fertilizer at planting?

i didnt put any down at planting time This was the first time I’ve put it down at planting as I finally had a way to get it covered somewhat with the drag I bought. These are probably the best mine have looked this soon after planting. I haven’t always put urea down 30 days after planting as I’m only up on weekends and timing rain that way doesn’t always work. Not sure if it makes much difference. I seem to have more issues with too much rain flooding my plots or too little rain. Once they’re established like yours it seems like just a little rain weekly can sustain them.

If it’s going to rain for sure I’d spread some more Lee. Especially if you didn’t spread any at planting. They look like they could use rain. Yours are spread out well so they have good growth potential if they get nitrogen, rain, and sun.
