Couldnt u burn the piles down some? I’ve tried. It’s so dense and full of dirt that I can’t get air in there to make combustion. Diesel fuel just burned on top. Maybe if I try next year in the middle of July while things are real good and dry. 🤪 Or I can just leave them where they are and be satisfied with killing a buck or two a year the way it is.

Makes me wonder if some good ingenuity could solve this burn pile issue? ......Like some tubes driven into the slash piles with air and / or fuel forced into the burn pile or some such thing? It could be a rental shop item if it were useful. Sound like a project for Batman or SD.....someone that thinks outside of the box. .

I turned all my ash, sod, half burnt stumps, rocks, and garbage into a big platform for another ground blind next year. (I killed like 5 birds with one shot on that project. Got the area clean, gained a plot, got my kitchen table view, gained a blind platform, and two skidder buckets of pond rocks. Which reminds me, I've got to keep them rocks out until after the big lindy.) Or scoop it up and make a hoog out of it. I've been watching hairy women harvest potatoes in moomoos today. I'm near certain they ain't wearing underwear underthere.

^ interesting video SD.. I could see unrolling a big round hay bale to cover the rows.....and you could grow allot of stuff that way. Wonder about cuttings too? Might be a great way to build your ogranic matter too. <---that is something I need to do.

It’s a lot of piles. More than a dozen. And it’s literally tons of material. It’ll stay put.

Cover the piles with winter rye seed? Billy goat deer climbing the piles to eat. I'm getting geared up to plant hard neck garlic in the hoog box this fall. They don't give that shit away either. I'm gonna have to put my thinking on to get ahold of some mn grown bulbs. Not gonna lay down $100 for a fist full of garlic seed. I've got a pumpkin plant going like hell in it now that may just put on a carver yet this year.

Planning on planting a strip of them in our field next year.

I only planted pumpkins once......and it was very successful for deer.....even though I only planted a couple dozen plants. Man the deer kicked those pumpkins open and ate 'em till they were gone. The one problem I see is weeding a pumpkin patch. Maybe there is RR pumpkin seeds today? If so, I'd give em another go. EDIT: I just did a google search for RR seeds. Pumpkins are not on the list of RR seeds..... but Squash is. Do deer like squash?
