I have never seen or eaten them before. Research says they don’t really have a look alike. I couldn’t harvest them yesterday because I was on a bicycle with no way to carry and a long way from the car. Can anyone give give an opinion on the ID?

That’s a chicken. Looks like it may be a bit dry. Harvest the outer couple inches, leave the rest attached. Should feel a little rubbery.

Parked closer and did a quick bike ride back today. Snatch and go of almost 3 pounds. There was probably 20 pounds there. Some I grabbed is dry but some looks good. I am going to cook a little and give them a try. I’m cautious with wild mushrooms that are new to me.

Dip in milk egg mixture. Roll in seasoned flour. Fty in cast iron skillet with oil. Dip in ranch. Wow.
