About 30-40% according to my memory/calculations, we have had to deal with this in Minnesota. Again, why do we have the gun opener, before anyone in the Midwest? I can remember 77 degrees one year, a severe lightning storm, plus 65 degrees and 40 mph winds all in the past 12 years.

Yep, I would not even go to my place Saturday except I want a presence there during the opener.
Maybe I'll mow the yard or paint some trees Saturday?
Mid week should be good.

Had some of my best pike fishing on hot Mn openers. We caught 2 over 44 inches one opener.

I just mowed the yard. There's still snow on the north side of the house. Pretty crazy. Why does MN have their opener now? We all know the answer to that

We all know the answer to that Because our state is dumb and also votes for Biden ... I was more thinking because MNDNR and the privatized branch of the MNDNR control deer management in this state and they want firearm season during the peak of the rut. MNDNR wants it then because it's about the easiest time of the year to shoot the fuck out of the herd. MDHA wants it then because most members are firearm first hunters and want to shoot bucks with guns when it's the easiest to do so.

I don't know, we do a pretty good job of shooting the fuck out of the herd here in WI later in the year. I don't think it matters all that much with a firearm.

It’s not that deer would not be shot if the season was later, but some bucks and does would get a little more age!
Plus colder temps and not as much corn!

It's been awhile since I checked, but historically WI's antlerless harvest makes up over half the total kill most years. In MN, antlered bucks make up over half the total kill most every year. MN's season structure insures that very few bucks make it to maturity.

56 degrees right now, but it's only supposed to get to 68 today. That's better than the 76 we had yesterday.
Good luck MN deer hunters

I got my first sunburn while hunting the rut. 60-70’s for the two best weeks of rut. Not a single shot today before 11 then everyone went crazy. Target practice I guess.
